An Open Letter to America
The growing risk of another 9/11

Yesterday, we commemorated one of the darkest days in America’s short but storied history. I remember the horror of seeing those symbols of American greatness – the Twin Towers and The Pentagon – burn to the ground. I also recall with pride and satisfaction the night we all but destroyed the enemy’s homeland. I recollect, as if it were yesterday, the shame and recriminations of a government that failed its most sacred duty – to protect the homeland. And I recall the patriotic joy I felt when our leaders committed to never again allowing our nation to be caught unawares.
However, today, I sense that we are again broken, with our leaders doing the enemy’s work by adopting that same arrogant ideology that made us so vulnerable twenty-three years ago. That point was no more evident than during last Tuesday’s debate between President Trump and Vice-President Harris. Some have argued that Trump was off his A-game and that she bested him on style and “vibes” (but apparently not so-called “undecided” voters). However, there was a singular moment when Harris made a statement that crystallized my uneasy feeling. She proclaimed that “January 6th” was ” the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.”
Really? What about 9/11 (which we would commemorate just hours after the debate)? I’d argue that was the far worse event. And given the Harris border disaster, allowing over ten million unvetted illegal aliens into our country, including hundreds on the known-terrorist-watch-list, tens of thousands of single military-aged men from our known geo-political enemies, and perhaps millions more we are not even aware of (collectively known as “gotaways”), I now believe we are suffering from the same September 10, 2001 mindset that allowed 9/11 to happen.
Pundits may argue about who won the debate, but what keeps me up at night is how close Kamala Harris is to holding the nuclear codes, managing our military, and ultimately opening our borders to all comers. She has consistently espoused anti-American rhetoric, from decrying the use of terms such as “radical Islamic terrorism” and “illegal alien,” to supporting decriminalization of illegal immigration, offering unfettered health care and financial assistance to illegal immigrants, and downplaying concerns over the risks of a porous border.
Donald Trump may not express the kind of personality you like or a sense of humor you appreciate. In fact, you may not like him at all. But nobody can disagree that when he was President, we were safer, stronger, and far more prosperous. Despite her vague promises of equity and action, I believe Kamala Harris represents the same broken mentality that brought us 9/11. I fear that if she wins the Presidency, she will preside over the demise of the Great American Experiment.
