Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen officially launched his campaign for Attorney General on May 17, 2025, with a high-energy kickoff event that drew a substantial crowd of prominent conservative figures and enthusiastic supporters.

Held in Queen Creek, AZ, the event featured appearances from U.S. Representative Andy Biggs, State Representative Travis Grantham, Sheriffs Ross Teeple and David Rhodes, members of the Arizona Corporation Commission, and numerous other elected officials, state bigwigs, and media celebs.

The gathering was described by attendees as one of the “most significant conservative events in Arizona” in recent months. Sheriff Mark Lamb remarked, “I’ve never had a fundraiser with this many people.”

Petersen also appeared to energize the Teenage Republicans in attendance. While several noted they can’t endorse in the primary, they expressed excitement about knocking on doors for him should he secure the nomination.

Nico Delgado, former chairman of the Teenage Republicans and current congressional aide, was also present. Delgado stated, “The campaign is officially underway! Proud to work for this man—he will make a fantastic Attorney General!”

Petersen’s campaign is rooted in traditional conservative values like law and order, border security, and state sovereignty—and it’s backed by his direct involvement in legal battles that have shaped Arizona’s political landscape.

Petersen is a proven defender of contentious state policies. He notably stepped in to defend a law restricting transgender athletes from girls’ school sports when Attorney General Kris Mayes declined to do so. Petersen also challenged federal overreach by suing the Environmental Protection Agency over vehicle emissions standards, arguing they exceeded the agency’s authority and threatened Arizona’s economy. A vocal advocate for border security, he co-sponsored Proposition 314, which voters approved, making illegal entry into Arizona a state crime and authorizing local law enforcement to arrest violators. Despite Governor Katie Hobbs’ veto of his immigration enforcement legislation, Petersen remains committed to advancing strict immigration policies.

His leadership on these issues has positioned him as a de facto Attorney General in the eyes of many conservatives. A phrase that has become a campaign theme for him.

In the Republican primary, Petersen faces Rodney Glassman, a former Tucson city councilman, former Democrat, and perennial candidate who has previously run for U.S. Senate and the Arizona Corporation Commission. While Glassman has largely self-funded his campaigns, Petersen announced during the event that he has raised significant funding and will rely on grassroots support to stay competitive.

Election integrity journalist and former attorney Rachel Alexander attended alongside Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller. Alexander noted on X, “Noticeably, RINOs like Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell were nowhere to be seen, and a gal wearing a Karrin Taylor Robson shirt was promptly kicked out.”

With strong support from law enforcement and conservative leadership, Petersen’s campaign is shaping up to be one of Arizona’s most closely watched races.
