Senate candidate Kari Lake and Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) held a press conference today at the Carniceria Mi Ranchito #2 Hispanic market in Laveen. The conference’s primary focus was inflation and its impact on local businesses. During the event, Lake highlighted that the market, located in her opponent, Rep. Reuben Gallego’s (D-AZ-3) district, perfectly illustrated the damage caused by Bidenomics.

Two shopping carts flanked the podium, symbolizing the economic challenges Arizonans face. One cart was full of groceries with a picture of Trump, representing lower prices under his administration, while the other, the “Bidenflation” cart, highlighted the high costs attributed to current inflation.

The choice of venue, a bustling Hispanic market, highlighted the severe economic challenges small business owners face in Arizona, particularly in Gallego’s district. Both Lake and Lee stressed the need for urgent action to mitigate the effects of inflation on everyday people.

Lake emphasized the struggles that Arizona businesses face due to rising costs, stressing that the economy remains the foremost concern for many residents. “Inflation is hitting our local businesses hard,” she stated, pointing to the “Bidenflation” cart. “We need effective policies to support our economy and ensure these businesses can thrive.” The store owner’s son expressed that these are tough times due to inflation, and the five-year projection is not good.

Senator Mike Lee, who has endorsed Kari Lake for the Senate, is fluent in Spanish and spoke first in English, then in Spanish. Lee echoed Lake’s sentiments, adding that addressing inflation is critical to maintaining the economic stability of the state and the country. The press conference underscored the candidates’ commitment to tackling economic issues and supporting local communities.

After the press conference, Lake and Lee spoke at length with the market owner. They discussed the history of the family-run business, the economic challenges it faces, and the deep roots the store has in the community. The discussion highlighted the personal and economic stakes for small business owners in Arizona, emphasizing the need for effective economic policies to support them.

Erica, whose parents own the market, told the Globe that it’s “important for everyone to be heard.” She was glad a Republican came, stating that people should be open to hearing all sides. She was grateful to be able to help and enjoyed meeting Lake and Lee.

SCOOP: After a quick chat with Senator Lee, we can confirm he actually runs his own X account. That’s right, folks—@BasedMikeLee writes his own posts!
