LD30 Candidate David Rose Reflects on Hobbs Veto Record
Describes Gov’s ‘veto spree’ as ‘reckless and harmful’

In the aftermath of Governor Hobbs’s legislative approval record, in which she set a new “personal high” for vetoing bills passed by the Republican-led legislature, lawmakers are sounding off, mostly with disapproval. The war between Hobbs and the legislature is littered with bills created to fulfill the “will of the people” of Arizona, a point that many continue to emphasize. David Rose, candidate for the House seat soon to be vacated by Rep. John Gillette (R), who appears to be on the fast track to replace Gillette (with his staunch support), adds to the growing concern about Hobbs’s governance and ideology.
In an exclusive statement to the Arizona Globe, Rose said, “Governor Katie Hobbs has proven to be one of the most dangerous and ineffective leaders Arizona has ever seen. By breaking her own veto record—rejecting over 178 bills—she’s not just playing partisan games, she’s actively putting Arizona families and our future at risk. Hobbs has vetoed commonsense legislation to secure our border, protect our elections, empower parents, fix our water crisis, and lower the cost of living.”
Rose addressed the nature of the legislation, citing their commonsense nature. He stated, “These weren’t extreme bills—they were solutions supported by Republicans and Democrats alike. Her refusal to lead has stalled progress, endangered our communities, and shown total disregard for the real issues facing everyday Arizonans. While families struggle with rising costs, unsafe streets, and failing schools, Katie Hobbs is busy checking off boxes for radical special interests.”
He finished by addressing Hobbs’s overall approach to government and how she is impacting the function of Arizona:
“She’s not governing—she’s obstructing. Her veto spree is more than political—it’s reckless, and it’s harmful. Governor Hobbs isn’t just failing at her job—she is a danger to Arizona’s prosperity, safety, and future. It’s time for her to be held accountable for the damage she’s done. We must restore strong, conservative leadership in the Governor’s office—leadership that delivers results, not roadblocks. Arizona deserves better. And in 2026, we’re going to take our state back.”
