Attorney General Kris Mayes once condemned the Trump administration for “unlawfully deploying the California National Guard against protestors without coordinating with state leadership,” saying, “The Trump administration should be working with local leaders to keep our communities safe, not mobilizing the military against the American people.”

But now, with the “No Kings” events expected to draw large and potentially disruptive crowds across Arizona, Mayes is adopting a much sharper tone. As activist groups and state leaders raise red flags, the Attorney General appears to be bracing for massive protests, and that’s prompting stronger warnings from her own office.

Mayes issued a press release stating, “Violence, vandalism, or threats to public safety will not be tolerated. She continued, “Individuals who break the law, incite violence, or damage public or private property will be held accountable under Arizona law. I urge all Arizonans participating in tomorrow’s events to exercise their rights peacefully.”

A wave of “No Kings” protests is set to sweep across the United States tomorrow, timed to coincide with President Trump’s military parade in Washington, D.C. The march marks his 79th birthday, Flag Day, and the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary.

A nationwide wave of “No Kings” protests is set to sweep the country tomorrow, timed to coincide with President Trump’s military parade in Washington, D.C. Arizona stands out as a focal point, with 40+ events, including a flagship 9 a.m. rally at the State Capitol, featuring entertainment. A coordinated effort to challenge what they claim is authoritarian symbolism and concrete policy grievances.

No Kings organizers proclaim, “They’ve defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services. The corruption has gone too. far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings.”

Governor Hobbs has also dialed up the intensity of her statements. She said, “As Arizonans gather across the state, I want to reiterate that right does not extend to damaging property, committing violence, or rioting.”  She continued, “Violence of any kind will not be tolerated. I strongly urge protestors to remain peaceful as they exercise their First Amendment right.”
