The Arizona Globe is receiving additional reports of missing ballots, fueling concerns over election integrity in the 2024 Presidential election. Anecdotal evidence from Chandler and Scottsdale residents, coupled with the official investigations over mail theft by USPS and the FBI, place Maricopa County squarely at the center of another election firestorm.

Phoenix, AZ, resident Geoff Mathieux notified the Arizona Globe that family members living in the affluent community of Scottsdale’s McDowell Mountain Ranch were also victims of mail theft. According to unconfirmed reports, the thieves used a ‘master key’ to access the gangbox mailboxes over a three-day period. They allegedly focused solely on ballots.

Mathieux expressed concerns that ‘fraudsters’ could potentially “vote twice because they (Maricopa County) can’t trace the ballots.” He stated that a supervisor at the county’s elections office told him that the ballots were tabulated immediately and, due to privacy laws, could not be traced back to the voter. “The problem is they (fraudulent voters) could shift it (the election) one or two percent,” he added. Mathieu stated that he emailed the recorder’s office but has yet to receive a response.

According to Mathieux’s brother, Douglas Mathieux, many neighborhoods in McDowell Mountain Ranch, specifically Sonoran Fairways, were impacted. He stated, “I’m concerned that the mail theft may have been election-related because it seems that the mail was stolen several days in a row duringballot mailing week.”

Although he took proactive measures to preserve his family’s vote, Doug expressed concerns that some voters may not have that ability.

“How good is the system to track old ballots,” he asked, adding, “People are busy, so there is a percentage of people who will not get a second ballot, and their vote won’t be counted. What percentage won’t go?”

Likewise, a Chandler resident (who requested anonymity) reached out to the Arizona Globe to express concerns over the disappearance of her mail-in ballot. She described a bizarre interaction with the Maricopa County Elections Hotline when she attempted to check on her ballot status. She stated that when she checked her ballot status, the system showed “Voter ID Not Found.” The Elections office allegedly said they were having “system issues” stemming from too many people checking the status of their ballots. She stated she was warned against attempting to vote a second time under threat of “legal action.”

Dominic Caglioti, counsel for the Kari Lake campaign, advised the Arizona Globe that he had been in contact with the Trump and GOP legal teams and confirmed that the incident was indeed under investigation by the USPS and the FBI. He advised voters to remain vigilant: “If they don’t get their ballot in the mail, reach out to the county by November 1, 2024, to avoid the lines on voting day.”

In response to an inquiry with the Maricopa County Recorder’s office, they emailed a statement saying, “Our office prides itself on transparency, and since we often get a question about the mail-in ballot process. We created this video to easily explain it and this is readily available on our social media platforms. Here is the link that you are welcome to utilize with proper attribution to our office:

This report comes on the heels of the Arizona Globe’s recent report of stolen ballots from another mailbox in Scottsdale, Arizona. In our interview with a Scottsdale Republican, we reported that the US Postal Service alleged the thieves used a ‘master key’ to access the boxes. The story went viral after our founder, Ken Kurson, was interviewed on the James T Harris Conservative Circus radio show.

Anyone suspecting their ballot has been stolen or tampered with should reach out to Maricopa County Elections or the US Postal Inspector.
