Shortly after our initial reporting, the Arizona Globe conducted an exclusive Zoom conference with several of the Tucson Trump rally attendees who experienced mysterious injuries at the event. As reported on September 22. 2024, approximately twenty mostly Latino Trump supporters experienced a series of mysterious symptoms shortly after the event concluded.

The Arizona Globe was among the first outlets to report on the incident, interviewing several attendees and reviewing medical records that confirmed some of the affected were diagnosed with chemical burns. Their symptoms, including blurred vision, facial swelling, severe eye pain, and, in some cases, peeling skin, emerged roughly 30 minutes after the rally ended and remain unexplained. All of the affected individuals sat near the stage where Trump made his entrance.
The incident attracted national attention, fueling both concerns and speculation about possible chemical exposure or other forms of attack. Neither local authorities nor the venue have yet to release any official statement, resulting in a number of conspiracy theories, with the Trump campaign acknowledging the situation and attempting to gather information.
During the rally, former President Trump introduced a new tax policy aimed at eliminating taxes on overtime pay. However, the event sparked backlash from local leaders, including Pima County Supervisor Adelita Grijalva, who posted a profanity-laced message on social media. Her post drew criticism at a subsequent Board of Supervisors meeting, where local leaders voiced their concerns.
Although many rally attendees declined to speak on camera, the Arizona Globe obtained medical records from several attendees supporting the injury claims.
Lupita, one of the attendees, said, “We didn’t know if he [Trump] was okay… we can’t stay silent, people need to know.”
Another attendee, Planned Parenthood whistleblower Mayra Rodriguez, said this incident will not deter her from attending future Trump rallies, adding, “I want the hate against Trump supporters to stop.”
The Arizona Globe is committed to documenting the facts of the case and providing an accurate account of those involved.
