Petersen Predicts “Gallego-Swalwell Ship” Will Sink, Lake Concurs

Given how close the two men are, it’s unlikely Gallego didn’t know

Ruben Gallego is facing renewed political pressure as past ethics concerns are being revisited alongside a growing controversy involving a close personal and political ally.

During the 2024 Senate race, Republican opponent Kari Lake issued a sharp warning to the Arizona Globe about Gallego’s credibility, stating:

“…very publicly, lying about the timeline AND circumstances between his controversial divorce to his nine-month pregnant wife and second marriage to a lobbyist… Gallego is a con man, and his run for Senate is another swindle.”

At the time, the criticism focused on Gallego’s personal timeline. Additional concerns also surfaced, including allegations reported by the Arizona Globe that he may have violated the STOCK Act, which governs financial disclosures and insider trading by members of Congress.

Now, scrutiny has escalated.

Recent attention has shifted to Gallego’s relationship with a close associate facing serious allegations of sexual misconduct. The situation has triggered broader questions about Gallego’s judgment and how he handles concerns involving those in his inner circle.

The situation escalated further after a video circulated on X appearing to show Swalwell on a bed with a woman whose dress is pulled up, alongside another man.

Online users have speculated about the identity of the second individual, with some claiming a resemblance to Gallego. Those claims remain unverified, and no independent confirmation has established the identity of the individuals in the video.

Former Congressman George Santos has further amplified the controversy with a series of public statements and posts on X.

In media appearances, Santos claimed Gallego’s office was “a revolving door at night” and urged someone to look into Gallego.

The scrutiny is intensified by the well-documented closeness between Gallego and Swalwell. Their families were reportedly close for decades. State Senator Warren Petersen (R-15) posted on X, “The Swalwell ship is sinking. The Gallego ship will go down too.”

The Arizona Globe reached out to multiple Arizona Democratic legislators who served alongside Gallego. None responded to requests for comment, and no Arizona Democratic leadership has issued public statements in his support.
