Ortiz, Hernandez Targeted by Libs of TikTok over ICE Doxxing

Immigration has long been a flashpoint in Arizona politics, but in recent weeks, the controversy has shifted from policy debates at the Capitol to Instagram stories and councilmember posts. The conservative social media account Libs of TikTok has thrust two Arizona Democrats, State Senator Analise Ortiz (D-24) and Phoenix City Councilwoman Anna Hernandez (D), into the national spotlight, accusing them of “doxxing” federal authorities by sharing real-time ICE activity in their communities.

On August 5, Ortiz posted an Instagram story warning constituents that ICE agents were near Southwest Elementary School in South Phoenix during morning drop-off. Libs of TikTok accused her of “actively impeding and doxxing ICE by posting their live locations” and went so far as to urge federal authorities to press charges.

The Arizona Globe previously reported on the fallout over Ortiz’s post, which has since drawn national attention and sparked formal political action.

Not long after, Hernandez, a former state legislator now serving on the Phoenix City Council, posted an address in Phoenix alerting residents of nearby ICE activity. Although Hernandez later deleted the post, Libs of TikTok captured and recirculated it, accusing her of “doxxing the live location of ICE agents.”

Libs of TikTok also broadened its criticism to include Ortiz and Rep. Oscar De Los Santos (D-11), claiming they were “promoting and donating money to illegal aliens who were arrested by ICE.”

Tricia McLaughlin, a former DHS appointee, blasted Ortiz’s post as outright obstruction of justice, stating, “By tipping off ICE locations, Senator Ortiz is siding with cartels, traffickers, and violent criminals over American citizens,” McLaughlin told Fox News Digital.

She warned that the alerts do more than undermine policy. “Broadcasting active ICE operations endangers officers in the field and weakens our national security,” McLaughlin added.

What began as local alerts to constituents has ballooned into a national controversy, pulling Arizona’s immigration politics back into the headlines. Republicans are calling for investigations and even expulsion, while Democrats argue the posts are protected First Amendment speech. The clash now sits at the intersection of law enforcement, free speech, and immigration policy, with Arizona once again at the center of a debate that stretches far beyond its borders. And with Libs of TikTok’s massive platform ensuring these disputes go viral, the controversy shows no signs of slowing down.

Despite the backlash, both lawmakers have defended their actions as necessary and constitutionally protected.
