Former President Donald Trump held a Tele-town hall rally to endorse Kari Lake’s campaign for the U.S. Senate in Arizona. During the virtual event, Trump praised Lake as a staunch defender of conservative values and a fierce critic of “fake news.” He highlighted her commitment to issues such as border security and stressed the importance of having fighters like her in the Senate.
Lake, a former TV anchor and Trump ally, has emerged as a prominent figure within the GOP. Trump’s endorsement, along with their close friendship, aims to bridge the divide among the conservative base after her primary with Mark Lamb as she seeks to defeat Democrat Ruben Gallego in November.
Trump’s involvement in the rally demonstrates his significant influence in state Republican politics and his efforts to shape the party’s future through key endorsements. Recently, Trump also endorsed both Abe Hamadeh and Blake Masters, but during this call, he focused exclusively on Lake.
The tele-rally, held on the eve of the Arizona primary, underscored the importance of this Senate seat, which could impact the balance of power in the U.S. Senate. Trump’s endorsement is expected to energize Lake’s campaign, providing a boost as she transitions from the primary to the general election.
“She’s fantastic. She will not let us down,” Trump said. “Kari Lake, I just think she’s going to be as good as you can get. There’s nobody going to be better.”
Kari Lake expressed her gratitude to the Arizona Globe, saying, “I’m so honored to have President Trump join us for a Tele-rally. The MAGA Movement is so powerful that President Trump doesn’t even have to be in person to draw massive crowds! The best is yet to come!”
The event drew an impressive 24,000 participants, according to the event planners.
