Arizona Republicans Applaud Trump’s 2025 Address

Border, economy lead State’s concerns as Trump promises a brighter future

In what some are calling “the most consequential speech ever given by a President,” Donald Trump laid out his new brighter vision for America last night. In his address to the joint session of Congress, which he had entitled “The Renewal of the American Dream,” Trump highlighted his hopes, aspirations, and not a few accomplishments, all to the raucous applause of Republicans and guests alike. In typical Trump fashion, it was sometimes emotional, sometimes funny, and by all accounts, a rousingly partisan speech that left the Congressional Democrats looking rather petulant.

His address was a true stemwinder, but also had some touching moments. He honored the families of young women murdered by illegal immigrants, families of fallen first responders, and the son of a fallen soldier whom he honored with an appointment to West Point. In one of the most touching moments of the night, he made a thirteen-year-old boy, who six years earlier had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, an honorary Secret Service agent. Through it all, the unmistakeable Trumpian sense of humor and determination drove the theme home – that America is Back.

“Six weeks ago, I stood beneath the dome of this Capitol and proclaimed the dawn of the golden Age of America,” he said. “From that moment on, it has been nothing but swift and unrelenting action to usher in the greatest and most successful era in the history of our country. We have accomplished more in 43 days than most administrations accomplished in four years or eight years. And we are just getting started.”

Arizona Republican leaders lauded Trump’s address.

Representative John Gillette (R-30) told the Globe, “President Trump’s 2025 speech to Congress was a triumphant showcase of American greatness, highlighting three monumental accomplishments: the launch of a bold commission under Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to eradicate childhood cancer and purge toxins from our nation, the largest deportation operation in history to secure our borders from invaders, and the gutting of wasteful government through Elon Musk’s DOGE initiative—finally draining the swamp! But the sheer depravity of the Democrats was on full display as they sat stone-faced, refusing to cheer for DJ Daniel, a heroic 13-year-old cancer survivor honored as a Secret Service agent. These heartless radicals can’t even muster applause for a brave American child battling brain cancer—what a disgusting, unpatriotic disgrace!”

Representative Nick Kupper (R-25) told the Globe, “President Trump delivered one of the best speeches to a joint session that I’ve heard in a long time. In spite of many wildly unprofessional Democrats, he weaved an impressive mix of statesman, comedian and compassionate leader. I’m motivated by his accomplishments in his first month and excited for the next four years.”

Also, former AZ State Senator and @AZFreedomCaucus alum Justine Wadsack gave the Globe a statement: “President Trump demonstrated he is command last night and he is already delivering on his promises. He’s bringing back manufacturing, stopping the border invasion, expanding our economy, protecting our young female athletes and drowning out all the distractions from the left. He is restoring our Republic and in his words America is Back”

Other Arizona Republican leaders took to X.

Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers responded to Trump’s claim that God had saved him in Butler, Pennsylvania, to save America. She wrote “We all believe President Trump’s life was saved by God, too.”

Congressman Andy Biggs wrote, “Fight, fight, fight! The Golden Age of America has just begun.”

Kari Lake commented, “Tonight, we saw a President with strength in command, a statesman saying not only is America back, but our best days are ahead of us. He laid out an incredible vision in that speech.”

Of course, the positive response was not all positive. The Globe will be reporting the comments from Democrats shortly.
