On January 4, 2025, Mar-a-Lago hosted the premiere of The Eastman Dilemma: Lawfare or Justice, a documentary examining the lawfare challenges faced by Dr. John Eastman, a prominent conservative legal scholar and former attorney for President Donald Trump.

Eastman told the sold-out crowd that “the Madison Media Fund wanted to do the film highlighting the lawfare against him, and he wanted the world to see it.” John Eastman is a constitutional attorney, professor, founder of the Claremont Institute, and former clerk for Justice Clarence Thomas. The film chronicles the moment Eastman received the infamous call from Trump, and when asked at the movie premiere whether he would answer the call again, he decisively stated, “Yes, because it was the right thing to do.”

This film dives deep into the legal and political repercussions Eastman faced after advising former President Trump on January 6, 2021. He presented a compelling legal argument that Vice President Mike Pence possessed the constitutional authority to delay the certification of electors from contested swing states where election law violations were alleged, thus allowing room for investigation. Eastman asserts that he never intended to overturn the election but provided various legal scenarios for consideration.

The documentary argues that Eastman’s recommendation was akin to the legal advice attorneys provided in Bush v. Gore. However, Eastman believes he was persecuted for what he describes as his unwavering commitment to vigorously representing his client on complex legal issues, including an FBI raid, criminal charges in Arizona and Georgia, and suspension of his law license by the California State Bar.

The sold-out event drew hundreds of guests, including notable figures such as President-elect Donald Trump, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The ticket prices started at $1,000, with $50,000 sponsorships available.

The evening began with a cocktail reception, allowing attendees to network and setting the stage for celebrity guests’ highly anticipated red-carpet arrival. Meanwhile, uninvited legacy media lamented on weekend news shows that they were not only excluded from this star-studded affair but also caught off guard. Most only learned of the event after the thirty-plus independent journalists who were privileged to attend began sharing glimpses on social media.

During the reception, Arizona reporters Rachel Alexander, Jen Barber, and Christy Kelly (photographed above) had the opportunity to speak to General Michael Flynn. General Flynn told the Globe, “The election system is broken and must be fixed before 2026.” The General believes all voting should be “one day, one vote.” The former Democrat turned Republican thinks that “Trump would be in prison for life if he lost.”

Following the reception, guests proceeded to the screening room, where a VIP panel including Dr. Eastman, Rudy Giuliani, General Mike Flynn, Jeff Clark, Peter Navarro, and Alan Dershowitz led the showing.

The moderator announced that all the panel participants, except Alan Dershowitz, had been victims of lawfare. Dershowitz said that he coined the term “guerilla lawfare” years ago. He claims that he “is still a Democrat,” but during the panel, he said that “lawfare today is worse than Stalinism.”

President-elect Trump surprised the audience by standing at the back of the room and listening to the speakers, who were former attorneys, cabinet members, and friends. After the panel concluded, Trump took the stage, introduced Prime Minister Meloni, and commended her leadership and influence in Europe.

During the event, Trump expressed strong support for Eastman, stating he was a “big fan” and reiterated his belief that Vice President Mike Pence had the authority to delay the certification of the 2020 election results.

The filmmakers assert that conservative attorneys are being “unfairly targeted and canceled by a legal system increasingly influenced by political bias.” They point to “mounting evidence of a two-tiered justice system, where conservatives face severe penalties for actions that receive leniency when committed by others.”

Madison Media claims, “The film aims to expose and challenge these disparities, advocating for equal treatment under the law, regardless of political affiliation.”

The Eastman Dilemma: Lawfare or Justice is now available for public viewing for a limited time here.
