Arizona Democrats Frantically Pan Trump’s Address

Find fault in nearly everything Trump said

U.S. Senator Mark Kelly, former U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and U.S. Congressman Ruben Gallego at a campaign rally for Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

During President Donald Trump’s Address to Congress, Arizona Democrats demonstrated strong opposition to both the president and his policies, often refraining from applause throughout the speech.

A theme also emerged among Arizona Dems concerning claims made by Donald Trump regarding Social Security. Senator Ruben Gallego stated, “The only objective they are pursuing is to reduce your benefits in order to provide additional tax breaks for billionaires.” He cautioned, “He is targeting your Social Security.”

Representative Greg Stanton (D-CD4) asserted, “Donald Trump is misrepresenting the truth about Social Security for a singular purpose—creating a justification to cut Social Security.”

Gallego also remarked, “When did this speech become a showcase for Trump? He should address the nation rather than engage in trivial political discourse.” He also emphasized, “They are misleading the public. Provisions regarding no taxation on tips or overtime are conspicuously absent from the GOP’s budget.”

Senator Mark Kelly, continued the theme, “Donald Trump is lying to you about Social Security and Elon Musk wants to decimate the Social Security Administration. It’s never missed a payment in 88 years, but cutting up to 50% of its workforce and shutting local offices puts that record—and seniors—at risk.”

The address also witnessed a dramatic moment when the Sergeant-at-Arms removed Texas Representative Al Green from the House chamber after his loud, cane-shaking protest over the president’s claim of an electoral mandate. Green’s interruption, marked by his exclamation of “No mandate!” and subsequent ejection, drew varied reactions. Arizona State Senator Analise Ortiz (D-LD24) lauded Green’s defiance, labeling him a “hero” in an online post, thereby aligning herself with his act of protest.

In another post, Ortiz referred to Democratic minority leader Hakeem Jeffries as a “failure” and stated that “he should resign as leader.”

The Arizona Globe asked State Senator Ortiz for a response but did not get a reply.

In contrast, CNN commentator David Axelrod criticized Green’s actions as “despicable,” suggesting that there were moments during the address when Democrats should have stood in acknowledgment.

Similarly, CNN Pundit Shermichael Singleton summed up the Democrat response, “Democrats wouldn’t clap for a kid who survived cancer; they wouldn’t clap for a mother whose daughter was murdered by an illegal immigrant, they wouldn’t clap in support of law enforcement.” He continued, “That’s the current Dems in a nutshell. They have no message, no direction, no vision beyond their own resentment. They have become the very thing they used to mock—weak, fragmented, and for now, irrelevant.”

The Pima County Republican Party had stronger words for the Democrats:

During President Trump’s address to Congress, he highlighted several poignant American stories through the presence of distinguished guests. Among them was Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 13-year-old from Houston battling terminal brain and spinal cancer, known for his admiration and support of law enforcement.

Additionally, the family of Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who was killed during an assassination attempt at a Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last July, attended as guests of First Lady Melania Trump. His widow, Helen, and their two daughters, Allyson and Kaylee, were present to honor his memory.

These stories, among many others, were shared during the address to highlight the resilience and dedication of everyday Americans. Many pundits said that when Dems walked out, they also disrespected these American stories.

Freshman Representative Yassamin Ansari (D-CD3) declared, “I walked out of Donald Trump’s joint address.” She stated, “she was absolutely devasted by the bullsh$it she just heard.” The freshmen representative said she proudly wore her “protect trans kids pin.”

Meghan McCain, who is not known as a fan of President Trump, said, “This is the first time I can remember crying during a state of the union. Thank you President Trump. This is so beautiful.”

She continued, “Not just because I am a republican… but I truly don’t know how democrats can compete with any of this. I wouldn’t even know where to begin on how they compete with this….”
