Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is actively recruiting federal prosecutors, and FBI agents dismissed following their involvement in the January 6 investigations. The move comes after the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a directive to terminate federal prosecutors overseeing the January 6 cases immediately.
Mayes addressed the dismissed officials directly, stating, “My message to all FBI agents and federal prosecutors who are being wrongfully fired by Trump: come see me about a job. We are hiring at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, and we actually support law enforcement.”

Chief Deputy Attorney General Daniel Barr echoed this sentiment, highlighting opportunities for recent law school graduates whose job offers were rescinded by the DOJ. He emphasized the vital work being done at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office in protecting and pursuing justice for the state and its residents.
Barr wrote on LinkedIn: “Plenty of opportunities at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office for recent law school graduates whose job offers were recently rescinded by the Department of Justice. We do vital and interesting work in protecting and pursuing justice for the state of Arizona and its people. Want to learn more about what we do? Please feel free to DM me.”
Mayes’ job offer was met with swift criticism by AZ Senate President Warren Petersen (R-LD14), the current front-runner challenger for the 2026 Attorney General election.
They are being rightfully fired for going on a witch hunt, something you are very familiar with. America is thrilled to see Trump get rid of the corruption. https://t.co/QaSgMZn7X3

X profile Abe Hamadeh’s War Room piled on, posting, “Kris Mayes wants to fill out the ranks of her illegitimate office with the same people who weaponized the rule of law against half the country under Joe Biden. Despite her best efforts, Mayes is only an amateur in prosecuting her political opposition; she wants to bring in professionals.”
Arizona Senator Jake Hoffman (R-LD15) said, “Imagine being so moronically tone deaf. While America has just overwhelmingly re-elected [President] DonaldTrump for the near sole purpose of draining the swamp. Lunatic Leftist AG Kristin Mayes is essentially begging the corrupt, fired DOJ staff to join her team. Kris Mayes is a clown.”
While Mayes emphasizes support for law enforcement and justice, critics argue that her actions are politically motivated and misaligned with public sentiment. This development highlights the deepening political divide within Arizona’s leadership and raises questions about the intersection of state and federal legal affairs.
