What a day.
At 2:31 pm today, 8th District Republican Representative Debbie Lesko announced that she will not be running for re-election this November.
At 4:40 pm, the Arizona Globe had a story about the shocking decision by the Congresswoman, including our reporting that some were already urging 2022 candidate for Attorney General Abraham Hamadeh to throw his hat in the ring.
At 5:06 pm, Hamadeh announced on X “Our country is in desperate need of courageous fighters, and that’s why I’m proud to announce I’m running for Congress in Arizona’s 8th District. President Trump is under attack. He needs back up — and I’m ready to help him Make America Great Again.”
As we reported earlier, an insider inside Team Hamadeh had told The Globe that “Abe has been fielding a lot of calls from supporters who are encouraging him to run for Congress.”
With an announcement that mentions Donald Trump and even features a logo nearly identical to the former president’s iconic branding, expect the Hamadeh campaign to strike themes similar to those that vaulted Trump from being dismissed as a stunt celebrity candidate to the Oval Office.
